A man who laced candy with sedative and provided them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males both nine and ten years old.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight children and one adult experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
However, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was held in detention before a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, handling the case, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She said his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer camp which he ran.
The man engaged in a "treat game" with the minors, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge the defendant had engaged in this activity with the boys "for many years", and minors had previously become sick the next day.
She stated the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had concerns in recently.
The legal representative continued: "In the summer" his family member had concerns about what was going on, justifiably.
"They decided to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel stated objects including infant oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were found, and his stepson notified the authorities about his suspicions.
She said the defendant went on to conduct the "sweet game" with six boys that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the next day.
"The police had not responded by that time," she stated further.
The oversight body, the investigative body, had stated that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the events.
The prosecutor said the children were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson contacted the police again.
She said the defendant then conducted the "treat game" in a space of five children.
